WATERVILLE, OH (WTOL) - Senator John McCain used Monday’s visit to northwest Ohio to help victims of Hurricane Gustav. He visited ISOH Impact’s warehouse in Waterville.
Although McCain’s visit to Waterville was on short notice, dozens of residents showed up to catch a glimpse. He was welcomed by cheering supporters.

To aid those affected by the recent hurricanes, 10% of Chico’s gross sales at the Levis Commons location will be donated to ISOH/IMPACT for disaster relief on Saturday, September 20.
WATERVILLE, OH. As Hurricane Ike barrels down on the Texas coastline, ISOH/IMPACT is already enacting its disaster response measures. Volunteers will gather at the ISOH/IMPACT warehouse at 905 Farnsworth Rd. in Waterville, OH, Saturday, September 13, from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm to begin preparing emergency relief packages for the hurricane victims.
Volunteers will help sort donated goods such as food, toiletry items, cleaning supplies, and medical aid. They will divide the emergency relief supplies into five-gallon buckets with lids and prepare the disaster response supplies to be transported to affected areas as soon as the hurricane passes and roads are cleared for travel.
Anyone wishing to volunteer and help prepare emergency relief packages may call the ISOH/IMAPCT office at 419-878-8548. Volunteers may also bring disaster response supplies with them to donate to the victims of Hurricane Ike.
WATERVILLE, OH. The Gulf Coast is bracing itself for Hurricane Ike just weeks after Hurricane Gustav destroyed homes and business in Louisiana. ISOH/IMPACT has responded to the need from Gustav and is working around the clock to prepare for the aftermath of Hurricane Ike.
Ike is already a Category 2 storm, and is expected to strengthen before it makes landfall this evening near Galveston. The storm surge alone is expected to cause flooding and extensive damage. Strong wind and rain will cause further destruction inland.
We cannot wait until the storm has passed to ready ourselves for response. In the wake of a hurricane, every minute counts. Families along the Gulf coast will need food, medical aid, and cleaning supplies.
ISOH/IMPACT is collecting gifts of cash and relief supplies to respond to the need.

Donations can be dropped off anytime at the ISOH/IMPACT warehouse located at 905 Farnsworth Rd. in Waterville, OH or at any Toledo area Tireman Auto Service Center location, including Bowling Green and Fremont, beginning on Tuesday, September 2 during normal business hours Farnsworth Road, Waterville, Ohio.
Cash donations are vital to providing for packaging, transportation, and distribution costs as
well as facilitating emergency response teams. Cash and credit card donations can be made at
the warehouse during normal hours of operation (M-TH 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., F 8:00 a.m.-noon),
through the ISOH/IMPACT website (www.isohimpact.org) or sent directly to the ISOH/IMPACT

It wasn’t a knock-out punch, but Hurricane Gustav still left the Gulf Coast battered and bruised.
“It could take 6-8 weeks to get the electricity really going, and the people are in despair. They need help,” Linda Greene-ISOH/IMPACT.
Linda Greene of ISOH/IMPACT is receiving daily reports from her disaster volunteers down in the Gulf. They paint a grim picture of Gustav’s aftermath.
“The issues are pretty incredible. They have to wait in line for two hours to get gasoline. Some of the people in Baton Rouge are just now getting back into their homes,” Greene.
